Araks is committed to creating environmentally conscious swim and lingerie. The company continues to work with female led factories based in New York. As solutions evolve in creating a more sustainable fashion industry, Araks continues to incorporate those solutions into their brand. Araks’ swim collection is sustainable in several ways, particularly pertaining to where the fabrics are sourced. Two thirds of the environmental impact of apparel industry comes from its fabric, and how that fabric is made.
Araks is dedicated to transparency as they make sure to outline the sustainability of each thread in their swim collection.
One of several ways Araks material is sustainable in each thread is that Araks swim collection is made up of recycled nylon called ECONYL. ECONYL is famous for being a material made from recycled ocean plastics (i.e. fishing nets).
Araks also incorporates recycled polyester into their swim collection. Another form of upcycling old material and using it for new swimwear.
The sustainable fabrics used in Araks swim collection are produced in a fabric mill that utilitizes renewable energy sources, capturing methane emissions during the production process in which to allow the cogeneration of electricity. Araks brand Utilitizes a zero-water waste and safe chemical management, circular model. Araks’ Sustainable fabrics are made in Italy and are OEKO-TEX 100 Certified.
More on ECONYL: The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is recognized as theworld’s leading processing standard for textiles made from organicfibres. It defines high-level environmental criteria along the entireorganic textiles supply chain and requires compliance with socialcriteria as well. Ensures chemical inputs such as dyes used meethigh environmental criteria. All waste water treatmentis mandatory to comply to social criteria.
